Your Opportunity
Are you a talented designer with a landscape architecture degree and 0-2 years experience? If so, we want to talk to you! Stantec is growing its urban design, landscape and planning practice in Denver. Our team works nationally and globally, collaborating with a variety of design and engineering disciplines, including architects, civil engineers and environmental services. Our work spans a wide spectrum of projects at a variety of scales - from streetscape and green infrastructure, to site design and rooftop amenity decks, to large master plans and transit oriented developments. We emphasize full lifecycle sustainability at all levels with an eye to enhancing and restoring natural, social and community ecosystems. Our office is in downtown Denver at the east end of the 16th Street Mall (the redesign and construction of which is one of our projects).

We are seeking a positive, highly motivated professional who is passionate about improving the built environment through a people-first approach to design. Top candidates will excel at design thinking and will have excellent graphic communication skills. We require articulate written and verbal communication, curiosity and open-mindedness to produce the best design solutions, excellent time management skills as well as no-ego collaboration with other team members.

You will have the opportunity to plan and design public and private projects across a range of scales and uses, including civic spaces, streetscapes, parks, residential, commercial, and institutional developments, to name a few. You will build new relationships with some of our more than 250 landscape architects firmwide, be mentored and in turn mentor new staff as we continue to grow.
Key Responsibilities
  • Understand and execute the site inventory and analysis process. Investigate design variables, owner/client requirements, budget constraints, regulatory constraints, site constraints, building operation, circulation, site grading, stormwater management, sustainability, soils, planting plans, and the preparation of construction documents.
  • Work under the direction of licensed Landscape Architects to assist in the development of schematic, conceptual, design development and construction documents for site plans and support graphics
  • Work under direction of senior staff to lay out and prepare presentations and reports
  • Support our urban design practice and other studios within our office.
  • Collaborate with other team members while working on projects and managing specific design and project tasks as appropriate.
  • Assist in contact with clients and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Support marketing and business development efforts.
  • Participate in meetings and presentations.
  • Perform other duties as needed.


Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Exceptional conceptual design and graphic skills using computer drawing and rendering techniques.
  • Exceptional technical design skills in site and planning projects across a range of project scales from less than one acre to hundreds of acres in size. Skills required include technical design layout, grading, and detailing of design projects of all sizes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.), and SketchUp are required.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, Land FX, Revit, Rhino, Enscape, Lumion, or other 3-D visualization programs is preferred.
  • Strong quantitative aptitude and attention to technical detail.
  • Self-motivation and initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Education and Experience
Undergraduate and/or graduate degree or equivalent experience in Landscape Architecture or related field.
Zero to two years of experience in a professional design office.
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
Excellent graphic production/rendering skills. See list in prior section for preferred programs.
A desire and ability to be a multi-discipline team member (planning, urban design, landscape architecture, engineering, and architecture)

This position is an in-office position five days a week at our office in Downtown Denver. Some travel will be required for such tasks as site visits; delivering and presenting plans or documents to reviewing agencies or clients; attending client or public meetings; attending conferences to make presentations or participate in forums; and participating in internal meetings. You may occasionally visit study areas, construction sites, and/or outside elements.
