As an Electrical/Instrument Design Engineer you will provide electrical, instrumentation and controls engineering leadership on all phases of capital projects including scope development, cost estimates, equipment specification, procurement of equipment, construction packages, quality assurance, FAT coordination, and technical support for startup and commissioning. Being part of an internal multi-discipline engineering team, you will collaborate with a team of internal and external partners to ensure the successful completion of assigned projects. As a subject matter expert, we are relying on you to provide technical leadership and to drive highly efficient and effective E&I solutions on capital projects.

  • Providing technical expertise and leadership in the specification, design, requisition, and installation of new process instrumentation and electrical distribution equipment in accordance with plant design requirements, BASF standards, and regulatory standards.
  • Managing multiple projects, initiatives, and commitments in parallel. You will be responsible for the overall ownership and execution of your assigned projects. Being flexible and agile is an asset.
  • Ensuring successful startup and commissioning of new projects by developing and executing FAT and SAT procedures, and by providing quality assurance of E/I construction packages.
  • Developing E&I cost estimates, hour forecasts/tracking, schedule, and budget metrics, and providing responsive and effective communications regarding your project activities.
  • Serving as the BASF owner’s engineer, you will enable the successful execution of projects completed by external suppliers and engineering firms by providing technical oversight and effective collaboration.
  • Identifying areas of cost reduction, develop safe design solutions, and drive continuous improvement opportunities. Your ability to make crucial business decisions will add value.

If you...



  • Have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Possess at least 5 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation industrial maintenance, design, and capital projects.
  • Possess experience with functional safety in accordance with IEC 61511-1 or ISA-84
  • Technical expertise in selecting field instrumentation, control valve sizing, electrical distribution, and industrial process control systems (DCS, PLCs).
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment.
