Assists department to help community partners and participants navigate and access community services, other resources, and adopt healthy behaviors in coordination with the efforts of the Center for Disease Control's Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program. O versees and implements Guin Fit program operations and goals in Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana Counties. Performs duties relevant to developing, implementing, and evaluating workplan activities focused on nutrition, physical activity, and family healthy weight programs policy, systems, and environmental changes efforts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Supports workplan activities focused on 1) food service and nutrition guidelines and fruit/vegetable vouchers and produce prescriptions, 2) pop-up demonstrations and quick-build implementation of Complete Streets principals, and 3) family-based lifestyle change program.
Assists in needs assessment activities; creates activities to implement the food service and nutrition guidelines; promotes use of fruit/vegetable vouchers and incentives and produce prescription program; coordinates pop-up demonstrations and quick-build implementation of Complete Streets principal efforts; manages family healthy weight curriculum planning and implementation activities.
Assists with the data collection for program evaluation and data analysis of the healthy eating and beverage guidelines and fruits/vegetables incentives, Produce Rx activities, physical activity, and family healthy weight policy activities.
Participates in community engagement meetings and events with local partners to represent Guin Fit initiative. Encourages participants, volunteers, and partners to participate in local events and promotes Guin Fit initiative in the local community.
Assists with the coordination of award recognition program for local community organizations and individuals.
Assists in the equity assessments to identify gaps based on Health Equity in All Policies guidelines.
Contributes to the development of success stories focused on fruits/vegetables (FV) incentives, Produce Rx activities, Food Service Guidelines and Healthy Food Procurement, Active Built Environment physical activity community outreach and family healthy weight program activities.
Supports core team and the Project Manager through an integrated approach to policy, systems, and environmental change and community outreach.
Recruits and markets workplan activities that provides social support and educational awareness, advocates for individuals and community health.
Interacts with university and community-based groups, local non-profit organizations, schools, and healthcare agencies and CDC representatives.
Identifies and communicates budget issues to ensure adequate resources for program implementation; provides information for funding sources; submits data as requested; assists principal investigators and program manager.
Provides update reports and executive summaries regarding various policy, systems, and environmental change efforts related to the Guin Fit initiative.
Communicates regularly with project team, community partners, and participants. Maintains activity schedule in Outlook Calendar on a timely basis.
Complies with agency policies and procedures, regulations, federal and state requirements, and education/certification/registry requirements.
Assists with maintaining a safe work environment.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday. Some evenings and weekend hours may be necessary. Maximum of 40 hours a week. Travels throughout counties and state as needed.
Unusual Work Conditions: Outside work, including during inclement weather on community event dates.
Supervision Exercised: May exercise supervision over student employees.

Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Obtain c ertification in First Aid, CPR.; valid driver's license; reliable transportation, and ability to meet agency requirements for driving insurability; s uccessful completion of agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification & Investigation and FBI).

Minimum Qualifications: At least a h igh school diploma/GED plus five years of related experience or a bachelor's degree in public health, exercise science, exercise physiology, recreation management, sports management, kinesiology, education, and/or another health or wellness related field plus two or more years of experience in fitness and wellness programming; experience in fitness testing, personal training, exercise prescriptions or wellness related programming; valid driver license; other fitness/wellness related certifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years of community outreach and partnership experience or related experience working with vulnerable populations; experience assessing and responding to clients' request for support; knowledge of current trends in fitness and wellness industry standards and programs, fitness, student development and implementation of recreation, special events, and educational programs; knowledge of facilities and risk management practices; knowledge emergency response procedures; knowledge of fitness equipment and maintenance.
