Job Description

Position : Laboratory Technician - Blood Bank

Location: Onsite in Cleveland, Ohio

Duration : 6 month CTH

Overview:

• The duties of this position includes but is not limited to accurate, precise, and timely patient test results for the diagnosis and management of human illness.
• Position utilizes automation and computerization, and manual methods.
• Responsible for quality control and instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• May be involved in teaching and training, but not in a leadership position.
• Position handles blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid and other body fluids. Specimens may be contaminated with infectious diseases including HIV and other blood borne pathogens.

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. Or a degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science.
• Required American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified. As of June 1, 2015: if not certified, must be eligible for verification as a Technologist by an approved agency. Certification exam must be completed within 3 years of hire date.
• Pretransfusion testing experience preferred.
• Has experience and is comfortable in a high intensity/workload lab prefferred.
