Plant Overview: BBB Industries employs over 10,000 people and has a global footprint spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. We operate in the traditional automotive aftermarket, electric vehicle aftermarket, solar module lifecycle market, and new nondiscretionary parts sectors. BBB Industries LLC is a sustainable manufacturer and carbon-neutral company, offsetting approximately 100,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually through a circular process that receives used parts, sustainably manufactures them to be like-new quality or better, and ships them to customers.

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Advanced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our team in Sparta, TN. The ideal candidate will have the required qualifications and competencies below and will lead the design and build of marketable ESS solutions utilizing second life EV batteries as well as the developing and implementation of photovoltaic (PV) modules. Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and build of marketable ESS solutions utilizing second life EV batteries;
• Reverse engineer gateway communication protocols for various OE automotive EV battery platforms, i.e. Ford, Nissan, Mercedes etc.;
• Develop, and implement remanufacturing solutions for various photovoltaic (PV) modules;
• Design custom PV / ESS systems for various market applications;
• Design, develop and implement energy savings solutions for internal plants, offices, and external customers that align with BBB sustainability initiatives;
• Specify, and implement safe and reliable control systems for planned manufacturing lines;
• Design, develop, and implement custom component test solutions for various product segments;
• Develop software and hardware requirements for new technology required to test future products (Lin, CAN protocols); and,
• Train and supervise engineers and technicians in department.

Required Qualifications and Competencies:

• Experience:

• • 5 years of work experience post-baccalaureate progressively responsible experience in electrical/electronics design/testing positions with electro mechanical products (rotating electric motors, generators, solenoids, voltage regulators).

• Education:

• • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering, or related discipline. A foreign equivalent degree is acceptable.

• Technical Skills:

• • 3 years’ experience in system level design of Photo-Voltaic systems, and LI-ON based Energy Storage Systems in an electrical/electronics design/testing role.
  • 1 year experience with PV & BESS Inverter testing, and UL requirements in an electrical/electronics design/testing role.
  • 1 year experience working with industrial communication protocols: Serial/ RS485, CAN/LIN, and Modbus TCP/ RTU in an electrical/electronics design/testing role.
  • 1 year experience programming & scripting: Python scripting, C/C++, Microcontroller programming, PLC, and LabVIEW (minimum 2 required);
  • 1 year experience PCB design using KiCAD or a similar ECAD tool
  • 1 year experience PCB design using mechanical design utilizing 3D CAD software i.e. SolidWorks, CREO, Inventor, or similar (minimum 1 required).
  • The ability to operate electronics lab equipment: Oscilloscope, Spectrum analyzer, Function generator, Electronic load, Programmable power supply and DMM (minimum 3 required)
